all learner-oriented tasks ranging from simple matching
activities to more complex and involving extended speak-
ing tasks, concerning such topics as: introductions, greet-
ings, asking someone’s name, family members, food and
drink, sports and leisure activities, likes and dislikes, body
parts, appearance, telling the time, daily routine.

Since the students come from almost all over the world,
each group is a mixture of different nationalities, charac-
ters, temperaments and emotions.

The cross-cultural context of classes provides stimulating
input, making learning interesting and relevant to today's
world.

All the students are doing their best to learn Polish, and
it is no exaggeration to say that all of them succeed bril-
liantly! The students are able to communicate in Polish on
a very basic level – it is not a problem now to ask the way
or ask the time, or even to conduct a simple conversation
about their hobbies and interests, or their daily routines.

While learning the language the students are also getting
familiar with Polish culture. They explore Polish cuisine,
customs and traditions and everyday lives of their Polish
contemporaries. In this way their stereotype thinking of
Poland and Polish people is totally changed.

Every semester, a week before the beginning of the term,
the Centre of Languages and Communication runs Polish
Week for international students who come to Poznań to
study at PUT, benefitting from the Erasmus Exchange
Programme.

Polish Week is a splendid opportunity to get to know
fellow students, break the ice and learn a lot about Pol-
ish culture, history and geography. Students take part in
different cultural events, enjoy sightseeing of Poznań and
the city neighbourhood, and discover the beauty of Poland.
The idea of Polish Week was introduced in 2008, and it
has been organized twice a year since then (in February
and September). Throughout these years, Polish Week has
become so popular among Erasmus students that nearly
all of them decide to come to Poland one week earlier to
enjoy the event.
