The Department of Foreign Languages was established as a part of High School of
Engineering on the 1st of April 1953. The Department occupied only one room in a
building at 1 M. Sklodowska-Curie Square.
The first head as well as the organizer of the faculty unit was Feliks Załachowski,
M.A., prof. The department employed eight teachers who taught English, German
and Russian. Prof.Bolesław Orgelbrand, M.A.Eng. was the Rector of High School of
Engineering at that time.
