UVigo International Week -Employment and Entrepreneurship

It's our pleasure to inform you that we will be holding the fifth edition of our Annual International Administrative and Teaching Staff Training

Week at the Universidade de Vigo, Spain, from the 25th to the 29th of April 2016.


As in previous editions, we hope to gather a great spread of nationalities and representation from various categories of staff. This year's theme is Employment and Entrepreneurship: developing students' capacities under Erasmus+. The event will thus address a number of topics relevant for colleagues working at universities in these fields. Each day of the week will focus on a specific topic:


1. Labour intermediation

Developing students' employability: University labour intermediation services.

Helping students to find sources where to look for job offers.
Responding adequately to companies' requirements to graduates.
Dealing with university job banks.
Strategies to intermediate and encourage communication between employers and graduates.
Best practices in encouraging communication between employers and labour intermediation services.
Detecting fields where graduates can develop better his profession.
How to make labour observatory data profitable.

2. E-employment

Adjusting to a new reality: Impact of Information and Communication Technologies on Job Search.

Best practices in the use and management of new technologies for job searching.
New strategies in job searching through the Internet.
The potential of on-line Social networks. Job search 2.0.
How to make full use of databases for job seekers.
Employment search portals and websites.
Labour services networking and liaison through the internet.

3. Entrepreneurship

Helping students to manage by themselves. Innovative solutions for university entrepreneurship.

Encouraging students to become entrepreneurs.
Encouraging professors to detect potential entrepreneurs.
Dealing with ideas and innovation.
Finding ways to enhance multidisciplinary synergies.
Mentoring and training programmes for entrepreneurs.
Networking entrepreneur practices in Universities.
Academic enterprise incubators and accelerators.
Finding ways to attract investment for university entrepreneurs.
The boom of social entrepreneurship.

4. Job training and counselling

Facing new times: New approaches in training students for a successful transition into labour market.

Information and advice in job searching to senior students and recent graduates.
Strategies and tools to make job search efficient.
Strategies in CV writing and preparing an interview.
Best practices in counselling and training for employment.
The key role of emotional intelligence and soft skills.
Training for employment as an academic curricular matter.
Training professors as job advisors.
International mobility under the Erasmus+ programme as a tool for employability

5. Internships

Introducing students to companies, introducing companies to students. Internships: the thin line between Academic and Labour.

Academic internships as a transition into the labour market.
Best practices in encouraging companies to take up internship programmes.
Impact of internships on labour market. How to prevent internships from standing in for labour contracts.
Internships in different HEIs national contexts: Country-specific legal requirements of internships
Erasmus + KA1 Programme: Student mobility for traineeships in programme countries.
New opportunities under the Erasmus + KA1 programme: Mobility for traineeships with associate partners.
International placements out of the framework of Erasmus (Agreements, opportunities and experiences)

The event will include lectures, workshops as well as opportunities to network, benchmark and share your expertise with colleagues around Europe (see the preliminary programme enclosed for more details). We'll also have a parallel cultural programme and time to visit the campus, our spin-offs and local entrepreneurial areas and discover the city and its beautiful surroundings.

The selected participants will get a confirmation by e-mail together with the hotel list and booking and traveling details.


We remind you that European Union participants have the possibility to apply for ERASMUS + Staff Training mobility grants from their home institutions (Participants are kindly requested to contact their home institution for STT funding, where possible).
